Operating Engineers FCU Cuts Costs With IMM's TotaleChecks

Press Release: Paperless technology allows credit union to experience significant return on investment
LINDEN, N.J., August 10, 2009— Integrated Media Management(IMM)®, a document output management and automation technology provider, announced that Livermore, Calif.-based Operating Engineers Federal Credit Union (OEFCU) is utilizing the functionality of its TotaleChecks product in conjunction with branch item capture to clear all "on-us" checks in-house, saving thousands of dollars annually in operating costs. The software solution laser prints online and batch institution official checks on blank security paper. TotaleChecks also allows credit unions to eliminate the storage and security issues associated with preprinted checks.
"The driving force behind our decision to invest in this technology was the fact that we didn't want to continue using our dot matrix printers and incurring the maintenance costs," Joanna Boedecker, vice president of information technology at OEFCU, said. "We selected TotaleChecks because we were already an IMM customer and the company was able to address all of our concerns."
With 22 branches in five states, in the past the credit union used an outside company to process its checks. Now, OEFCU estimates that it will save approximately $10,000 annually due to the ability to move its check processing in-house with TotaleChecks. The credit union has also been able to gain the efficiencies of eliminating paper from the archival process and the need for check signing equipment.
